Thank you for this wonderful article! You have some great insights there... and made me laugh out loud regularly. May I invite you and your wife to visit Sant'Ambrogio di Cefalù? It's a beautiful little coastal town, with a diminishing and greying population. MANY foreigners have bought second and holiday homes here - it's become rather exclusive now that Cefalù is getting too expensive for most people's tastes... come save this village? I am a Relocal and I bought an apartment with land surrounding it, and I'd like to set up a glamp site and be a good example of how people can live with nature around them, working with it, and bringing good vibes to everyone in the village. I find that it's always fascinating listening to how people talk over here. My favourite phrase (I say with cycnicism) is, "The locals come first." - really? Do they? Because all I see them doing is latching onto tradition and their Sicilian identity. Anyways, we also will open an eatery in the piazza - everyone is very nosy and keeps asking us what we are going to do there... we are going to do what we want, and what the village actually needs. We will not be just another bar that is open 7 days a week because that's what the locals are used to... there's a lot going on for a tiny village of 180 permanent inhabitants. Come help me make some sense of this madness!
